Gestalt Design means design to consider all aspects of each rider's needs. As we started with this notion a decade ago, we presented well-considered models from which to choose. At the time, this meant one road design and one off-road design. As we served riders through the ensuing years, we added models to meet their needs, starting with the Sport Touring and Adventure Cycle. By 2001, we reached 10 models yet we encountered a growing diversity of needs, especially the growing recreational market. This diversity of needs has blurred the distinction between models, whether it's a commuter bike with almost race handling or a steady steering bike for time trials.
Likewise with fit. Ten years ago we started out with a wide range of fits - 11 in all. This evolved, in the case of our more popular models, to 63 stock fits, with small increments and standardized top tube adjustments. While custom geometry has been available, last year we made it standard - freeing up riders to get exactly the fit they need.
Finally, the introduction of high performance heat treated air-hardening steels has truly legitimated TIG welding along with lug-silver-brazing as a building process for truly lightweight frames.
The result is that Waterford has evolved into a custom framebuilder capable of serving a wide range of riders, each of whom have individualized desires.
