Waterford Precision Cycles

The starting kits mix Shimano Ultegra or 105 drivetrains with Shimano XT Hubs. The XT 36-hole hub is built tough for off-road use. Between the 36 spokes, heavier than road hub construction and wider than road hub rear spacing you can get a wheel capable of carrying heavy loads on just about all of America's wide range of road conditions.

The kits include Continental Top Touring 700x32C tandem tires. These tough tires offer longer wear and greater toughness than typical road tires.

For road-based riding in the US, Europe, Australia and other industrialized contries, Shimano STI shifters have proven themselves to be remarkable reliable. STI shifting makes it easier to maintain a comfortable cadence and easier to shift when it's important to keep both hands on the bars. Shimano 9-speed Dura-Ace Bar-Con bar-end shifters function well for more extreme conditions where reliability is especially critical.

Riders seeking extra low gears can substitute Shimano XT cranksets and derailleurs at no extra charge. With the possibility of a 22 tooth front chainwheel to 32 tooth rear cog it's easy to achieve sub-20 gear inch pedaling - great for those tough Pennsylvania climbs.
