In 1968, Schwinn changed its name from the original Arnold, Schwinn and Company to Schwinn Bicycle Company. Bike History buffs know that the Arnold was the meat packer-money guy behind that engineer, Ignaz Schwinn. Along with changing the name, Schwinn changed its corporate logo to the rounded block form used until the late 1980's. After the 1972 Olympics, Schwinn decided to move away from the Olympic Rings to a simple set of World Championship Stripes. Many dealers continued to order the Vintage decals through 1975, when the Block style became standard.
